Support Children’s Literacy: Support School Libraries
Many school divisions across Manitoba have been cutting Library Technicians.
These are the school support staff who make libraries work, and who support children’s literacy every day.
What do Library Technicians do?
Library Techs are qualified technical support people who catalogue, process, and maintain our school library resources, both in schools and online. Library techs are experts in cataloguing, coding, operating and maintaining technical systems, and making sure our school libraries work.
These library techs make sure that our school libraries support the needs of teachers and children, and help develop children’s literacy skills.
Without fully serviced school libraries, children will not receive the kind of support they need to learn.
Manitobans know how important children’s literacy is, but many school divisions are operating school libraries without the support of Library Technicians, resulting in less support for children.
Supporting library techs is supporting children’s’ literacy.
